This is your number one ally when it comes to making a home; plan like you’re a master strategist.  Grab a pen and paper, tablet, or computer.  Knowing the ground you are conquering is the first step in planning a good strategy for approach and helps to keep you on track.

1. Make a list of every room in your home.  Start at the furthest point and work your way down in your mind.  (i.e., Master Bath, Master Closet, Master Bedroom, Kitchen, Livingroom, Dining, and so on.)
2.  Break each room down by the area’s that need to be cleaned. Be general.  Your not deep cleaning yet, your simply making a plan. (i.e., Master Bathroom: lights, mirror & glass, shower, tub, sinks & counters, floors, toilet.
3. To the side of list #2 (areas to be cleaned), make a list of items you need to clean this space. (i.e., rags, Windex, shower & tub cleaner, broom and mop, floor cleaner, toilet cleaner….name the products and items you prefer to use in this space.

• Repeat steps 2 & 3 for every room in your house.  Now you have a general idea of what ground you have to cover and what products you need to have in stock to accomplish it.

* You can copy this list and use it to plan how to organize or how to design.  Tuck it into your home manual and keep it as a guide for later; for a housekeeper or house-sitter.
